Abia community, express concern over the litany of abandoned projects being executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission in the area.

Abia community, Owo Ala Asa in Ukwa west local government area, have, expressed concern over the litany of abandoned projects being executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in the area.

The community pointed out that the abandone

projects include the Owo Ala water project awarded by UNPADEC inherited by NDDC, Ngwaiyiekwe-Owo Ala Unuadienwe Road, Obehie-Owo Asa-Obegu road, Umuokwor Owo Ala Road, and electricity projects.

They spoke during a visit to the representative of Abia State in Niger Delta Development Commission board, Eruba Dimgba.

Chief Han Okpokiri, who led the community members during the parley, noted that the abandoned projects have caused untold hardship to the indigenes of the community, being an agricultural producing area.

They called on Dimgba to use his good offices to make sure those projects were completed.

Responding, Dimgba stated that the new board was determined to achieve the mandate of the commission by completing all abandoned projects in the state.

He stated that there were NDDC abandoned road, water, school and hospital projects across the region and noted that the management had decided that instead of awarding new contracts, those abandoned projects must be completed both in Abia and the South-East region as a whole.
