In a strong push towards Universal Health Coverage in Imo State, recently elected Local Government Chairmen have actively aligned with Governor Hope Uzodimma’s Health Insurance Initiative, expanding healthcare access to impoverished and vulnerable residents.
Paul Duru, Chairman of Nwangele LGA, and Ikenna Adikaibe, Chairman of Oru West LGA, took significant strides to facilitate free healthcare services within their communities by visiting the Imo State Health Insurance Agency (IMSHIA) to explore collaboration opportunities.
During their meeting with Dr. Uchenna Ewelike, Executive Secretary/CEO of Imo State Health Insurance Agency, the Chairmen expressed their commitment to enrolling their communities in the state’s health insurance program.
They praised Governor Uzodimma’s dedication to the effective rollout of health insurance, which has already profoundly benefited many Imo residents.
Dr. Ewelike commended the Chairmen for prioritizing their constituents health and affirmed Imo State Health Insurance Agency’s commitment to support these local government areas through quality healthcare partnerships, while emphasizing that this initiative aligns with IMSHIA’s mandate to provide affordable and accessible healthcare to Imo residents, aiming to reduce out-of-pocket health expenses by 40% and fulfill global Universal Health Coverage goals.
