Imo State Government launch immediate intervention to support children suffering from severe malnutrition.
In response to a viral video showing children suffering from severe malnutrition in Umueleagwa Onicha, Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area, the Imo State Government has launched an immediate intervention to support the affected family.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Prosper-Ohayagha Success, led a delegation to visit the family accompanied by Executive Secretary of the Imo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Rev. Sister Dr. Maria-Joannes Uzoma, they assessed the children’s condition and reassured the family that comprehensive medical support would be provided.
Dr. Prosper-Ohayagha who highlighted that Governor Uzodimma prioritizes the well-being of every Imo child and swiftly directed that this urgent case be addressed to prevent further harm, announced that necessary steps would be taken to ensure that the entire family would be enrolled in the Basic Health Care Provision Fund through the Imo State Health Insurance Agency, granting them access to free, full-scale medical services.
Dr. Prosper-Ohayagha also instructed the Health Department in Ezinihitte Mbaise to monitor the children’s health progress on a weekly basis to ensure sustained improvement.
Mr. Okezie Eze, visibly moved by the visit, conveyed heartfelt appreciation to the Imo State Government and the First Lady for their kindness, describing it as a beacon of hope for his family.
