The Imo State Government through the Office of the Special Adviser on Land Recovery has warned indigens of Umuguma in owerri west and their cohort which has started parcellation of Roads in Imo Industrial layout, along Customs Headquarters, off Onitsha Road without the consent and approval of the State Government, as the area remains Imo Industrial layout.
The Special Adviser on Land Recovery, Hon. Nwakanma who made the disclosure when he led his team and members of the press on a routine check at the layout, frowned at what he saw on ground, of how land grabbers have moved into the layout, began parcellation of the roads in the area and lay becons with the plan to start selling them as plots to unsuspecting general public particularly those coming back for Christmas from Abroad and other Cities with the conviction that government gave the approval.
Hon. Nwakanma sounded it loud and clear that the area remains an Industrial layout as the land title has not been changed and cannot be changed without the consent of the Executive Governor of the State whom the land Act bestowed with the powers.
He expressed shock on the involvement of the individuals, who were pointed out by a reliable source as Land grabbers.
Hon Nwakanma while warning that no stone will be left unturned on this issue no matter whose oxe is gored, used the opportunity to advise the general public especially intending land buyers to always carry out proper check/search about the land they want to buy with appropriate authorities before committing their money to any land Agent/Seller.
