Members of Imo State House of Assembly screen and confirm Five more Commissioner Nominees of Governor Hope Uzodimma.

The members of Imo State House of Assembly (IMHA) have screened and confirmed Five more Commissioner Nominees of Governor Hope Uzodimma.

The Lawmakers also screened and confirmed the Chairman and members of the Imo State Electricity Regulatory Commission.

This was seen at the commencement of a Special sitting of the House, when the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe announced that the Lawmakers at their Executive Session considered the list of another Commissioner nominees for the Imo State Executive Council as well as Commissioner Nominees for the Imo State Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Those screened and confirmed as Commissioner Nominees for the Imo State Executive Council are; Dr. Henry Okafor from Oguta, Rex Añunobi, Ukaegbu Emeka and Prof Victor Ndubisi, Ubakachukwu Emeka.

Those confirmed for the Imo State Electricity Regulatory Commission are; Sam Nwire- Chairman, Bar. Chibwnerem Ugochukwu Nbawuihe- Secretary, Bede Opara and others.

The House of Representatives has taken a significant step towards the creation of Orlu State, with the passage of the first reading of a bill sponsored by Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere and 15 other legislators.

In a statement released after the reading, Ugochinyere, who represents Ideato Federal Constituency, described the bill as a symbol of the South-East’s determination to achieve a brighter future.

Ugochinyere highlighted the historical injustices faced by the South-East, which currently has five states compared to other regions with six.

He expressed his belief that the creation of Orlu State which will have the state capital in the city of Orlu, would be a catalyst for economic empowerment and socio-political progress in the region.

He added that the proposed Orlu State will not simply be a new administrative unit, but the bill envisions the creation of new senatorial zones encompassing parts of Imo, Abia, and Anambra states.
